AN IDEA BORN IN THE POSTPARTUM BLUES...
After my first pregnancy, I gained over 35 kilos (shoutout to gestational hypertension 👑) and was left with zero strength or stamina. Most online dance workouts or in-person classes didn’t suit my postpartum body - hello, breastfeeding boobs, weak core, leaky pelvic floor, and pancake bum. I wanted something fun, low-impact, and energizing that fit around mum life without leaving me too sore to lift my baby. And that’s how Movefit Mama was born - my second child (or fourth, counting the cats 🐈⬛🐈).

When I was searching for mum-friendly classes, the options were either a mum-and-baby session or jumping back into a “normal” class that wasn’t designed with postpartum bodies in mind. As much as I adore my little one, I was craving something just for me - a space that felt safe, fun, and actually made for mums. I wanted to create a night-off, night-out vibe where women could move, laugh, and feel like themselves again - without juggling a baby, toddler, or nappy bag at the same time....
When I was searching for mum-friendly classes, the options were either a mum-and-baby session or jumping back into a “normal” class that wasn’t designed with postpartum bodies in mind. Launched in February 2025, MoveFit Mama began as a single class in Pocklington, York - and honestly, I was shocked anyone even turned up. Fast forward just a few weeks, and I was adding a second weekly class. Then came the DMs from York mums, and soon after, our monthly pop-ups were born. The tribe kept growing, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Launched in February 2025, MoveFit Mama began as a single class in Pocklington, York - and honestly, I was shocked anyone even turned up. What makes this community so special? Many of these incredible women showed up knowing no one - and now we laugh, vent, hug, cry, and swap advice on everything from pelvic floors to crayon-stained sofas. It’s become more than I ever imagined… and a group I truly couldn’t live without.

My background includes a degree in Theatre and Movement coupled with previous experience running dance fitness classes for adults and children in both Dubai and London.
I cannot stress enough how much that means very little in my postpartum body.
I'm still a mum bun, baggy t-shirt girly who will turn up to class looking like I rolled out of bed if that's all I managed to do that morning...
